The Good News

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. - Titus 3:3-8

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. - Genesis 1:1

Creation

When God created the heavens and the earth it was free of any evil. The bible tells us that as He created, God would look upon what he created and say it was good. As God created the heavens and the earth he spoke everything into existence, that is except one thing. Man. God himself formed man from the dirt and breathed his breath into the lungs of the first man. We were created in his image from the start, with the intent to live in fellowship with God and spread his glory throughout all creation.

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned. - Romans 5:12

The Fall of Man

In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve rebel against the words God gave them. Due to their disobedience all creation was now stained with sin, and the punishment was separation from God. Every evil we see in the world today, entered the world when mankind choice its own way, instead of God’s perfect plan.

For the wages of sin is death - Romans 6:23

The Cost of Sin

Since we are all stained with sin from birth we earn only one thing, death. We deserve to be separated from God and to be condemned for all eternity. Our sinful nature keeps us out of God’s presence and because he is Holy and Just, there must be a payment for sin.

For  God so loved  the world,  that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. - John 3:16-17

The Plan of Redemption

Although we deserve death, God’s love for His creation is greater. In justice He demands payment for sin, that payment must be death. In His love, God took that payment upon Himself in the form of Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully Man. In Christ’s death, he became sin to take all sin to the grave for those who would receive Him as LORD and Savior. However he did not stay in the grave, 3 days later Christ rose.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9

The Gift

In the resurrection of Christ, God’s victory was final, sin and death had been conquered and all authority on heaven and earth have been given to Jesus Christ. Now for all who would accept his gift and receive Him as LORD and Savior, they’re saved from the payment of sin because Christ paid their debt.

Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

1 Corinthians 1:4-9

I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
